LB Recovery know that your vehicle breaking down on a motorway can be scary, so we have provided the following tips to help ensure your safety. They are just a guide though and you should always use your common sense. Ensure that you and your passengers’ safety is your top priority whilst you wait for LB Recovery to attend.
- Think of other road users. They are your biggest danger. Try to manoeuvre your vehicle on to the hard shoulder, as close to the kerb as possible, with your wheels turned to the left
- Put on your hazard warning lights. If it’s dark or foggy, leave your side lights on too
- If you have a fluorescent or high visibility jacket, put it on so other road users can see you
- Get everyone out of the vehicle via the passenger doors, off the hard shoulder and well back from the road. Make sure that children are comforted but kept under control
- If you can’t get your vehicle onto the hard shoulder, switch on your hazard warning lights and get everyone out of the vehicle only when you can safely get clear of the carriageway
- You must leave any animals in the vehicle unless it’s an emergency. In which case, take them with you but ensure they are kept under tight control
- Don’t try to repair your vehicle, even if it’s something simple, as it puts you in considerable danger
- Never try to put up a warning triangle on a motorway
- Call LB Recovery on call us on 07947 846 119.
- Give us full details and we will soon be on our way to collect you.
- If you don’t have a mobile phone signal, walk to the nearest emergency telephone on your side of the road (there are arrows on the posts by the side of the road) – the telephone connects to an operator. Always face oncoming traffic when on the telephone so you are alert to any danger
- Give full details to the operator.
- Return and wait near your vehicle but off the hard shoulder and well back from the road
- When LB Recovery arrives, we will take control of the situation and soon have you and your vehicle safely on board our truck and on your way.
